Vanpelt Studio is local-first. Your video files never leave your machine. Transcription (Whisper) runs locally; only derived text, meaning transcripts and your beat sheet, is sent to Claude using your own key to produce the story-check.
The desktop app sends a few anonymous usage events to PostHog (EU cloud) so we can see where people get stuck: that the app was opened, that the license screen was shown, that a checkout page was opened (and for which plan), that a license was activated, and that a first project was created. Each event carries only the app version, your operating system and processor type, and a random identifier created on your computer when the app was first installed. It is not linked to your license key, your email, your name or your hardware. Never your footage, transcripts, file names or anything inside your projects. You are told about this the first time you open the app, and you can turn it off at any time in Settings; when it is off, nothing is sent.
This website is static. If you sign up for the free course or product updates, your email address is stored by our newsletter tooling solely to send you what you asked for; you can unsubscribe at any time via the link in any email. We also use PostHog (EU cloud) and GetCited for cookieless site analytics: page views, clicks, where visitors arrive from including AI assistants, and where pages cause friction, to understand which pages help and which don't. Neither sets cookies and neither tracks you across sessions. Both keep a session identifier in your browser's sessionStorage, so a single visit can be followed from page to page, and your browser discards it when you close the tab.
Purchases are processed by Polar, our Merchant of Record, who handles payment and applicable taxes. We do not store your payment details.
